I had a very productive meeting this morning at my alma mater; the University of Maryland at College Park. I went to visit Kate Izsak, PH.D. She’s the Assistant Director for Education at START (National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism). START is one of 13 Centers of Excellence of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security based at the University of Maryland. START aims to provide timely guidance on how to disrupt terrorist networks, reduce the incidence of terrorism, and enhance the resilience of U.S. society in the face of the terrorist threat. I went searching for some curriculum for the Bus 19 Education Pavilion and I believe I found some good resources through START.
START also houses the GTD; the Global Terrorism Database. The Global Terrorism Database is an open-source database including information on terrorist events around the world since 1970 through 2007 (currently). It’s quite a database of terrorist activity, unfortunately.
I hope to use and work with the folks at START to build the educational curriculum for the Bus 19 Project.
